Olyana Gordiyenko

Corporate Governance Counsel at Investment Capital Ukraine (ICU), financial and investment group, formerly Chair of Supervisory Board and Independent Director at the State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine.

Olyana’s background includes over 15-year experience as a corporate/M&A lawyer with the top-tier international law firm Baker McKenzie and over 10 years of policy development and legislative work with focus on corporate governance.

In 2016 Olyana was appointed as the Commissioner with the National Securities and Stock Market Commission. She has become the first woman in Ukraine to ever hold this position. 

Later, Olyana joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) asAssociate Director, Governance in the Economics, Policy and Governance department. Her responsibilities included enhancement of policy dialogue on investment climate improvement in several countries, including Ukraine, in the context of corporate governance reform and other matters.

Throughout her legal carrier with private law firm Olyana received top-tier rankings in The Legal 500, Chambers Legal, Best Lawyers, IFLR 1000, Who's Who Legal. In 2020 she received Outstanding Achievement Award at Ukrainian Legal Awards ceremony.

During her public sector service, Ukrainian Women in Law consistently recognised Olyana as one of the best Ukrainian lawyers among politicians, public servants and public figures.

Olyana is a recognised opinion leader on corporate governance matters in Ukraine. She often participates as panellist/moderator in various seminars and conferences organised by Strategy Council, Adam Smith Institute, A7, Nobles Ukraine, Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA), Extra Consulting, Ukrainian Corporate Governance Academy (UCGA), Center for Corporate Governance at the International Institute of Business (IIB), KSE, Ukrainian Bar Association, Ukrainian Legal High School, CIS Bankers, The Banking 50, FinClub and others.

Olyana has been a long-serving Member of Board of National Registry of Corporate Directors at Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA) and was a member and chair of Policy Development Committee at UCGA.

Since 2022 Olyana has been active member of CEO Club (London), and in 2024 joined professional association Women on Boards Ukraine.
